Name brand medications are commercially produced by pharmaceutical companies under a specific brand name and undergo stringent testing and regulatory approval processes. They contain the active ingredient(s) along with other inert substances. In contrast, compounded medications are individually prepared by pharmacists or specialists according to a specific patient’s needs, allowing for customization in dosage strength, form, and ingredient composition. Compounded medications are not mass-produced like name brand drugs and can contain the same active ingredient(s) as their generic equivalents, but they are tailored to meet individual patient requirements.
